Pickett Sprouse Facilitates Lease for New Location in Prime Growth Corridor

Morrisville, NC – July 10, 2025Shawarma Stop, a go-to spot for fresh, traditional Mediterranean food near North Carolina State University, is officially expanding into the RTP area. The popular locally-owned restaurant is opening a second location in The MarketPlace at Perimeter Park retail center in Morrisville at 10966 Chapel Hill Road. The restaurant’s grand opening celebration is set for Saturday, July 12, from 12 to 6 p.m. Pickett Sprouse Commercial Real Estate Broker Anna Jenkins represented owner Alam Salwaeh in securing the 10-year lease for the newly constructed 1,400-square-foot space.

Shawarma is thinly sliced, rotisserie-style seasoned meat, typically chicken or beef, that is served with pickles and garlic sauce in a wrap or on a platter or salad. Shawarma Stop also offers other Mediterranean classics like falafel, gyro, hummus, tabbouleh, grilled kebabs, and dips, all made fresh in-house.

The new location sits in a high-growth corridor near Wake Tech’s RTP campus, several major office complexes and hotels, and a number of new residential communities. It is also just steps from Bombay Central Grocery and Hoppy House Taproom, two complementary neighbors that bring strong foot traffic to the center.

“This new construction endcap suite in a long-term location for growth was a perfect match for what Alam was looking for,” said Anna Jenkins. “The abundant lighting and shell delivery gave him the ability to design a space that truly reflects the Shawarma Stop brand. Being able to build it out from scratch allowed him to create the exact atmosphere and flow he wanted for both the kitchen and customer experience.”

Shawarma Stop originally launched as part of Salwaeh’s Checkers Pizza location near NC State and quickly developed a loyal following.

“We know our customers by name and often by their order,” said Salwaeh. “Someone from the family is always on-site, and we genuinely care about getting to know the people we serve. That’s what sets us apart.”

The Morrisville store has been in soft opening mode since early July and has already seen steady traffic from local office workers, nearby residents, and customers visiting the other stores and offices in the shopping center. Saturday’s grand opening will mark the official launch, with regular hours expected to follow: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday, with Sunday hours to be determined.

With this second location up and running, Salwaeh hopes to expand Shawarma Stop even further across the Triangle in the coming years. He has plans to explore additional sites in Garner, Apex, and Holly Springs.

The property’s landlord is Red Robin Investments.
