After more than 5 years of operating as a popular food truck in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, Flying Pierogi will officially open its brick-and-mortar location on April 15 with a soft opening this week. The delicatessen is leasing 2,277 square feet of space in suite 140 at South Green, which is located at 101 Two Hills Drive in Carrboro. It will offer coffee and pierogies from Noon-7pm today and will expand its menu throughout the week. Pickett Sprouse Commercial Real Estate Broker Tyler Huntington represented Flying Pierogi owner J&M Hospitality Group, LLC in the lease.
Flying Pierogi specializes in Polish and German street food in addition to a variety of sandwiches, sides, and their popular Pierogies. It also offers specialty coffees, pastries, and a cocktail bar.
Since November 2018, the Flying Pierogi food truck has been a well-known visitor to many local breweries and food truck rodeos. One of its most popular spots in Carrboro was outside Bowbarr.
“We’re thrilled that our dream of opening our delicatessen in a dedicated place that we can call our own is now a reality,” said Flying Pierogi Owner Jaysen Wilson. “This day has been a long time coming, and we’re ready to welcome both our long-time customers and those who are just getting to know us in a welcoming and inviting space that truly fits our needs.”
The changes that have been made to the space include the addition of a deli counter with a deli case and slicers for meats and cheeses. There have also been cosmetic changes such as wood planks added to the walls, new paint throughout, and new shelving.
“This location is very centrally located to many neighborhoods and downtown Carrboro,” said Huntington. “The convenient free parking and central location make this the perfect spot to meet friends for a relaxing coffee or business lunch. In addition, easy access from 15-501 allows customers to visit Flying Pierogi without navigating downtown traffic.”
The Flying Pierogi food truck will now primarily be used for catering, special events, festivals, and private events. The delicatessen already has plans in place to work closely with UNC-Chapel Hill once the new brick-and-mortar location is fully operational.
The term for the lease is five years with renewal options. Broker Gary Hill with Avison Young represented property owner Woodhill NC, LLC in the transaction.
